Annual General Meeting Recap 

AWC-WPAC and Governance | July 2023

On June 17th, the Athabasca Watershed Council hosted our AGM at McArthur Place in Lac La Biche. We reviewed staff activities over the course of the fiscal year, combined with a recap of our financial audit from our accountant.

For more information on staff activities, read our annual report. After staff activity updates, we looked forward to the year ahead, with Petra presenting an updated budget that included the core operating grant from Alberta Environment and Protected Areas.

We moved on to electing our Board of Directors. We welcomed two new Directors this year, Ida Edwards (Town Councillor for Athabasca) and Amanda Buchanan (Bighorn Mining).

Once the new Directors joined by acclamation, it was time to choose the Executive Committee. Dan Moore and Kendra Gilbert remain as President and Vice-President, respectively. Paula Evans has agreed to stay on as Treasurer, and Julie Hink is joining the committee as Secretary.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making our AGM a success, and we hope to see you next year! Thanks also go out to Brian for providing an evening of entertainment for those who traveled to Lac La Biche on Friday, and for leading a bird-watching hike at Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park for those staff still in town Sunday morning.
