2020 Calendar Photo Contest
Announcements, AWC-WPAC, and Events | calendar, contest, photography, Water for Life, and watershed | August 2019

Are you a photographer that loves shooting the Athabasca Watershed? Would you like to be featured in our 2020 Calendar? Into a $25 gift card, getting your work seen by our audience and bragging rights? Then you should enter our 2020 Calendar Photo Contest!

The Athabasca Watershed Council is inviting photographers to submit their best photos of the Athabasca Watershed for our 2020 print calendar. We are looking for seasonal shots (spring, summer, autumn, winter) that relate to the Water for Life strategy: safe secure drinking water, healthy aquatic ecosystems; reliable quality and quantity of water for a sustainable economy. They should be creative, attractive, high-quality, landscape-oriented (wide) shots of various subjects. They need to have been taken within the Athabasca Watershed and by the contest participant. Click here for the watershed boundaries.

All submitted photos that meet the contest requirements will be posted on our Instagram account (@awc_wpac) and our followers will “like” their favourites. Contest participants are encouraged to invite their friends, family and followers to “like” their submission. We will use the hashtag #AWC2020Photos so voters can find them. The 24 photos with the most “likes” will be selected for judging. 14 photos selected by the judges will be the contest winners.

You may enter more than one photo, but each submission must be entered separately.

Each of the 14 winners will receive a (1) $25 gift card from their choice of the following vendors (if you have submitted multiple photos and more than one is chosen, you will win a gift card for each winning photo):

  • Costco
  • MEC
  • Tim Hortons
  • Amazon
  • Vistek
  • Canadian Tire

Winners information will also be featured in the promotion of the calendar, which will include social media, website and print material and will be encouraged to provide their website and social media accounts so we can link them to our audiences. This is a great opportunity for your work to be seen throughout the watershed and beyond!

The contest closes on 11:59 pm, Monday, September 30, 2019.
